Playing the Very Best Of Big Band Music by some of the finest musicians around
The Byron Jones Big Band is unique in that it has two distinct libraries of music, making it as attractive a proposition as a Concert Band , as it is as a Dance band.

It has considerable experience in concert work, having appeared, for example, on sixteen separate occasions at the prestigious Brecon Jazz Festival.

This is in addition to having been featured at other Jazz Festivals and Jazz Clubs.

The band has made many appearances at the popular Level 3 at St.David’s Hall, Cardiff, and in July,2005, will be featured as part of the last night of “Miss Saigon” at the fabulous new Wales Millenium Centre.

As a great Dance Band, the library caters for all the best loved dances, i.e. fox-trots, quick steps, waltzes,cha-chas, sambas et.al. Our excellent vocalist, Henry Newman, sings songs in all of these tempos, with equal skill.

Almost all of the library has been arranged by top American arrangers, giving the band a sound of the highest quality. As a direct result all of the best available musicians are very happy to be invited to be part of the band.
Byron Jones doesn’t usually run small bands, but has remained faithful to the big band concept.
Byron likes to emphasise that his band does not assimilate a big band sound, but IS a genuine big band, comprising five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones, keyboard, bass, drums and male vocalist.

During the last two years, a large pool of enthusiastic young musical talent has surfaced at the Cardiff College of Music and Drama, and quite a few of these outstanding young musicians
are being given the opportunity to play with the “B.J.B.B.”, and are doing so with great success.
